Redynamix Hdr Dce Tools
Redynamix Hdr Dce Tools
I would shoot a 4 or 5 exposures of the same scene, and process the images in Photoshop. Ideally, you want at least a 3 stop difference in shutter speed between adjacent images. The way this works is that in Photoshop, you duplicate your 6 images and load them in to the PlugIn. Once they are all loaded, you go to image 1 and set the exposure to 1.1, 2.2, 2.6, 3.1, 3.6, and 4.1. This will yield the three different exposure buckets for the HDR image. Now, click on the PLUS icon in the upper right hand corner to select ALL of the images. You will see the HDR image showing as one massive image. The more the images differ, the better the HDR effect you will get. So, there are a few ways you can use these images. You can just merge them or get a normal photoshop HDR effect. You can also use this as your base and copy all of the images over to a new folder, then use the images as the basis for new images. Any way you use it, you can save the image as a jpg or PSD format. I havent tested the Photomatix plugin since I have never had the need to do it, but I hear its great for producing large numbers of high dynamic range images without using multiple exposures, so, again, no need for testing it. Ive run this through the ReDynaMix Photoshop plugin before, and its a great program to run the HDR creation. Lets go and test it out, with the goal of using this process for my next HDR project. One thing I havent talked about thus far is what kind of exposure bracketing I used to create the HDR file. Back in the day I used a Canon EOS 1D Mark II, and to create a high dynamic range image, I used:
F-Stop: 1.1 to 2.2
Aperture: 2.6
ISO: 100

The more the images differ, the better the HDR effect you will get. So, there are a few ways you can use these images. You can just merge them or get a normal photoshop HDR effect. You can also use this as your base and copy all of the images over to a new folder, then use the images as the basis for new images. Any way you use it, you can save the image as a jpg or PSD format. I heard that Photoshop has an HDR effect that can be applied to a single image, but, for the $16 price, you cant beat using a Photoshop plugin. Let me know if you find any other good HDR Photoshop plugins besides Photomatix and I will be more than happy to test out other ones. Remember, I use it to create an HDR image from a single RAW file. I use the PS Plugin in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.
